Camden Perez has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after an impressive showing at the ETSU Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. on Saturday.

The invitational was the first event of the indoor track season and the Lady Flames and Flames qualified 14 athletes for the NCCAA Indoor Nationals on Feb. 20-21.

Perez placed seventh in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:27.56, which was nearly one minute below the NCCAA-qualifying mark of 16:20.

"Camden worked very hard over winter break after having a difficult cross country season and I'm glad to see him back as one of our top distance runners," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. A native of Monroe, La. Perez is junior digital media major.

Lee will look to qualify more runners for nationals when they compete at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. on Sunday.
