Lee University Athletics strives to make an impact in our community. These very special events throughout the season help to raise funds and awareness for great causes and help to foster genuine relationships within our city and surrounding areas. Reaching out and helping those in need has always been a hallmark of Lee University and the Lee University Athletic Department.
Read to WinÂ
Throughout the year our athletes partner with local elementary schools to read to students and help instill the importance and value of reading every day.Â
Kickin' it for Kids with CancerÂ
The women's and men's soccer programs are proud to sponsor Kickin' it for Kids with Cancer, a benefit game for the Austin Hatcher Foundation, to raise awareness of pediatric cancer. The Foundation's main goal is to "provide children and their families with the tools needed to cope and thrive at the onset of pediatric cancer." Over the past five years the team has raised over $100,000!
As a spectator for this event you can expect fun activities, besides the game itself, there are giveaways, half-time entertainment shows, and refreshments. While participating in all these events you will be making a difference in the lives of many who are affected by pediatric cancer. Even without attending you can make a difference by eating at one of the many local restaurants that donate a percentage of their proceeds to the foundation a week prior to the event.
Days leading up to the game team members raise money by selling "Kickin' It" shirts and pay a special visit to Hatch's House to spend quality time with children and their families affected by pediatric cancer.
Volley For a CureÂ
The women's volleyball team has hosted a match every year for the past 13 years that benefits the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation, an organization devoted to helping fight breast cancer and helping families affected by the disease. The funds raised go towards creating scholarships for families who have been touched by breast cancer. This scholarship is given out to an unsuspecting family during the event.
In the past the team has increased their funds raised every year. Last year's goal was met at $25,000. You can support this year's goal by purchasing t-shirt sales or by donating directly to the scholarship fund.Â
Empty Stocking Fund
Each December the Lee University Athletic Department partners with Mix 104.1 and the entire Bradley County community to help provide gifts for over 1,500 kids in the community. Student Athletes help purchase sort and present gifts to the children and the Lee Athletic Department financially supports this amazing cause that has been helping children experience the hope of Christmas since 1975.
Hoopin' For a Cause
Each year the men's and women's basketball teams raise awareness and funds for specific causes that are near and dear to each player. During this special night fans are educated on each player's "cause" and given the opportunity to help support the partnering organization.

Strikeout for Pediatric Cancer
Each spring the softball team sponsors a "Lace Up Game" to benefit StrikeOut Cancer.  NFCA's StrikeOut Cancer is a support program that aids member coaches with their own awareness initiatives. The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of fastpitch softball coaches nationwide to help increase cancer education and promote healthy living through awareness efforts and fundraising activities. Â
