McKenzie Athletic Building
The Lee University McKenzie Athletic Building was officially dedicated in a ceremony on February 20, 2003. Cleveland businessman Toby McKenzie donated $1 million for the project. Lee University President Dr. Paul Conn called the McKenzie Athletic Building “the nerve center of athletics.” On the second floor, the McKenzie Building boasts 12 offices, including Athletic Director John Maupin and athletic staff members. The main level is that “nerve center” referred to by Dr. Conn. On any given day and well into the evening, drivers and pedestrians on Parker Street can view the action that generates from athletes and the wellness-minded who go to work on the wide variety of specialized equipment for weight conditioning and physical fitness.
The training facility consists of 2,200 square feet, 7 Power Lift Racks, Olympic bars and plates, dumbbells, medicine balls, TRX straps, kettlebells, bands, and battle ropes from Kettlebell Kings. Each rack is equipped with a Fire 10 Tablet to utilize Teambuilder, a programming software system that allows an efficient way to provide workouts and track fitness data of each student-athlete to maximize their performance and experience while training.
