Freshman starter Angie Hughes has been named Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding work in leading the Lady Flames to three wins this past week.

Hughes finished the week 3-0 and was lights out giving up just two runs in 21 innings of work. She struck out 39 batters and yielded just four walks. The Blairsville, Ga. native went the distance in all three games and surrendered only eight hits.

Hughes is now 6-0 on the year. Led behind the strong right hander the Lee softball team sits at 12-0 as they prepare for the Gulf Shores Invitational this weekend in Gulf Shores, Ala. The first test will be Friday against Bethel University (Tenn.). First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
