Harold Smith has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week after helping the men's cross country team repeat as the GSC Champions Saturday morning at Sharon Johnston Park.The Flames accumulated 52 team points to hold off runner-up Alabama Huntsville, who posted 77 points. West Florida was third (113) and West Alabama placed fourth (119).

Smith, a junior from Cleveland and Bradley Central High School, finished in second-place finish (25:13.18) behind defending GSC and NCAA II champion Alfred Chelanga of Shorter University. Chelanga posted a time of 24:54.50. 

Smith was named to the All-GSC First Team along with teammates Seth Eagleson and Christian Noble. Freshman of the Year went to Noble who finished fifth overall in his first GSC Championship run.

Up next for Smith and the Flames will be the NCAA Division II South Region Championship on Nov. 5. The event will be contested on The Abbey Course at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Fla.
