Freshman Christian Noble has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after leading the Flames' Cross Country team to the university's first NCAA Division II South Region Championship. The 10K race was contested on The Abbey Course at Saint Leo University.a region championship on Saturday morning. 

Led by Noble coach Morgan's team placed four runners in the top 11 to win the race.  The native of Greenfield, Ind. was the first Lee runner across the finish line as he finished third with a time of 31:49.9. Noble was named to the All-South Region team, joining teammates Harold Smith, Seth Eagleson and Brandon Raleigh.

The Flames tallied a team score of 52. Defending champion Saint Leo was second with 89 points and Florida Southern (91) was the final team to receive an automatic berth to the DII National Championship on Nov. 19.

"We have never had a team execute a race as perfectly as our men did today," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "It amazes me what this group can do when they are focused fighting for each other."
