Women's basketball junior Shelby Brown has been named the Lee University Female Athlete of the Week after two solid performances in this past week's Gulf South Conference Tournament.
On Tuesday, Brown led the way with 20 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the field to lead the Lady Flames past rival Union, 72-58 in the GSC quarterfinals.
Brown would post eight points and seven rebounds on Saturday from Birmingham, Ala. as Lee fell 64-61 to Valdosta State in the GSC seminfinals. The Lady Blazers would go on to win the conference crown after defeating West Florida in Sunday's title game.
After the conclusion of the tournament the Goodletsville, Tenn. native was named to the GSC All-Tournament team. Brown and the Lady Flames (20-10) will now get set to play in the program's first ever NCAA D2 National Tournament game as they travel to St. Petersburg, Fla. to matchup with the No.1 seed in the South Region, Eckerd College.Â
