Christian Noble has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week as he led the Flames Track & Field team finished  at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Noble placed eighth overall and was the second athlete from NCAA Division II to cross the finish line. His time of 8:56.93 was just over four seconds shy of the automatic qualifying mark (8:52.70). Noble improved his provisional time and currently holds the seventh-fastest time in DII this season. The mark also set a new Lee record.

"Christian ran a great race," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "Last year it took 9:02 to get into nationals. The goal was to go at least 8:57 to allow a little cushion. This was only Christian's third attempt at the event. He is gaining a lot of experience each outing."

Noble and the Flames will now gear up for the Gulf South Conference Championship hosted by Shorter University on April 20-22.
