Senior baseball player Nate Wierzgac has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week after coming through in the clutch in Monday's win over Mississippi College.
The senior catcher from Detroit, Mich., launched his second walk-off homer of the season to help the Flames salvage the final game of the series with a 7-6 win over the Choctaws.
Wierzgac finished 2 for 4 with 3 RBI in the contest and his now hitting .358 with 10 home runs, nine doubles, four triples and 36 RBI.
The Flames will need some more heroics from Wierzgac and company this weekend as they face a must win series at West Florida to keep their GSC Tournament hopes alive.
