MARION, Ind. – Ashley Matthews and Cayce Bryan became the first Lee University athletes to earn NAIA All-American status in outdoor track. Matthews and Bryan each finished in the top eight of their respective events at the 2013 NAIA Track & Field Championships to earn the honor.

Matthews began the day facing 26.2 miles in the women’s marathon. Three hours, 1 minute and nearly 17 seconds later, the senior crossed the finish line in seventh place. Monika Kalicinska of St. Gregory’s University was the winner at 2:50:52.70.

"Ashley did a great job today in her first marathon,” said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. “She ran like a veteran, racing very smart. Her time would be competitive in any major marathon around the country."
