BIMRINGHAM, Ala. - Lee baseball player Thomas Zazzaro has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week the leauge office announced on Tuesday.

Zazzaro piched eight innings over two games last week and surrendered just one run while striking out five. 

The native of Hendersonville, Tenn. worked two scoreless innings in relief in Tuesday's contest with Young Harris College. On Friday at No. 19 Florida Southern the hard-throwing righty chewed up five innings in relief and allowed just one run on three hits to go along with four punchouts.

Zazzaro and the Flames will at Carson-Newman this afternoon at 2 p.m. before opening GSC play with a weekend series at Olympic Field against West Alabama.
