Tom Halsall has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after a solid performance in goal during the opening weekend of play for the men's soccer team.

Halsall lead the way to an opening night shutout of King University on Friday in the Lee Olive Garden Invitational. The Southport, England native recorded one save and kept the clean slate to lead the Flames to the 1-0 decision.

The following night the Flames battled the No. 1 team in the nation and defending national champion in Lynn University (Fla.). Halsall recorded five saves in the match and allowed two goals as Lee fell 2-0.

Halsall was voted the Lee Olive Garden Invitational Defensive Player of the tourney. The sophomore will now lead the Flames into their first Gulf South Conference contest on Friday when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to battle Union. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
