Camilla Sims has been named the Lee University Female Athlete of the Week after a strong showing at the Emory Classic in Atlanta, Ga. this weekend.
Sims posted three top-four finishes, one event win and three Lee records in the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw. The sophomore was first in the discus with a throw of 41.14 meters, third in the shot put (12.54 meters) and third in the hammer (42.82 meters).
Competing in her hometown of Atlanta, Ga., Sims led the Lady Flames to a fourth-place finish. Lee amassed 68.5 points while Kennesaw State University was first with 201 points followed by host Emory (123) and GSC rival Shorter University (84).
Sims and the Lee track and field team will get back to work on April 6-7 at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Mount Berry, Ga. The two-day event is the final scheduled meet before the GSC Championships, April 19-21.
