Lee men's basketball sophomore Michael McGuirk has been named the male athlete of the week after opening up the 2018-19 season with 18 points on Friday and 26 points on Saturday.

In Friday's 74-72 loss to Embry-Riddle the White Plains, Ala. guard had 18 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes of action. McGuirk came right back to drop in 26 points on a sizzling 6 of 7 3-pointers in an 86-82 defeat to Palm Beach Atlantic.

McGuirk and the Flames will look to avenge those narrow losses when they continue a six-game home stand to begin the season with North Georgia on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
