BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lee University's Jesus Garcia was named the Gulf South Conference Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week on Wednesday. This is the first time he has earned this honor this season.

Garcia was 2-0 in singles action and was 2-0 in doubles this past week to help the Flames win matches over Hampton University and University of Findlay.

At No. 2 singles, he won 6-1, 6-0 against Hampton's Fernando Fernandes and 6-2, 6-1 over Findlay's Jorge Bamuevo. At No. 2 doubles, he teamed with Cristian Pons to win 6-1 against Hampton (Charles Hudson and Fernandes) and 7-6 against Findlay (Carlos Blanco and Nicholas Kopylec).

The Flames return to action Saturday morning against Bellarmine University. The non-conference match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. EDT start.
