Cayce Bryan has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week after getting off to a strong start to the Indoor Track Season last weekend at the BSC Panther Indoor Icebreaker in Birmingham, Ala.

Bryan led a contingent of six Lee athletes that met qualification standards for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships in late February.

Bryan qualified for the 1 Mile Run and the 800 Meter Run. Her time of 5:09.88 in the mile eclipsed the standard of 5:35, while she was seven seconds quicker (2:20.61) than the needed time in the 800 meter. The junior from Las Vegas, Nev. edged Sherril McFarlane of Georgia Southern University to win the 1 Mile Run.

"For Cayce to open up indoor season with a seven second personal best and a win in the mile, as well as two national qualifying times, is fantastic." said head coach Caleb Morgan.

Bryan and the women's track team will take a break for the Christmas holiday before continuing the indoor portion of its schedule on Jan. 17 and 18 at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City.
