Camden Perez has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after running this weekend at the Laurel Mountain Invitational hosted by Sewanne University.

Perez gave the Flames their first win of the day as he ran the fastest time in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a mark of 9:48.08. The time was good enough to qualifiy the sophomore for the NCCAA National Championships.

Lee had seven individual winners at the one-day event. As a team both the Flames and Lady Flames finished in fourth place.

Perez is a native of South Bend, Ind. and will represent Lee in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the NCCAA Outdoor Track National Championships in Rome, Ga. on May 1-3.
