Bryan struck first and never looked back blanking the Flames 5-0 at the Lee Soccer Field Monday night.

The Flames and Lions battled for a good portion of the first half with each side taking turns on the attack. Bryan struck first on a goal at the 27^th minute mark by Johannes Muller. Muller broke free from the defender and slid the shot past keeper Tom Halsall to make it 1-0.

Less than a minute later the Lions attacked again. This time it was on a penalty kick by Tom Hemmings. The second half was more of the same as the Flames missed some opportunities to get back into the game.

Coach Paul Furey noted, "It was just one of those days when we didn't get any breaks.  We didn't play poorly. We came out with a lot of intensity and thought we could get up early.

The Flames matched Bryan in shots, both teams registering 13 apiece.  The difference was of the eight shots on goal for the Lions, five found the back of the net.

Lee never gave up and kept attacking till the very end, registering six of their 12 shots on frame. The competitive heart of the Flames really shined through late in the contest, down 5-0 they were still attacking and narrowly missed finding the back of the net late in the contest.

Coach Furey summed up the evening by saying, "We didn't take advantage of our opportunities and Bryan was spot on. Both teams had 13 shots. They were proficient and we weren't."

Bryan padded the lead in the second half on goals from Gustavo Angel, Nathan Adams and Miles Christian.  Bryan keeper, Josh Oldroyd was solid all night long recording five saves in keeping a clean sheet.

Halsall registered one save in his 70 plus minutes of work for the Flames. Chase Kenny also saw action and recorded two saves in the contest.

Coach Furey confidently added, "We'll regroup and prepare for conference play in 10 days."

The Flames will have some time off to regroup after the tough night.  They won’t take the pitch again until they open conference play against Spring Hill (Ala.) on Sept. 21st at home.
