CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On a frigid Saturday evening Lee University's men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Campbellsville University in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Championship. The Flames advanced to the final with a 2-1 overtime win over Mississippi College Friday evening.

Following the loss, Lee (11-4-5) will have to wait until Sunday evening to find out if they have earned one of the at-large berths to the NCCAA National Tournament. "We will hope for an at-large bid but if not, we will be back," promised coach Paul Furey.

"Almost forgot what losing was like," admitted Furey. "We hadn't lost in almost two months. This one was tough because I thought we possessed well and also felt a goal was coming for us. They had a counter attack and that was the difference. It was tough to see Chev (Roberts) and Ben (Armstrong) lose, because both had terrific senior seasons."

Campbellsville (17-3-1) took the early lead on a Roraigh Yearwood goal with just four minutes off the clock. Kevon Farquharson was credited with the assist.

The Tigers maintained the margin until Justin Furey scored the equalizer with four minutes remaining until halftime. Chevon Roberts earned the assist. "Only fitting Justin scored tonight as I thought this was his best game since he came to Lee," pointed out the Lee coach.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 for over 30 minutes into the second half before Yearwood and Farquharson connected again. Yearwood's second goal of the match would turn out to be the game-winner.

Lee took eight shots and put three on goal, while Campbellsville placed 6-of-13 shots on frame. The Flames tallied three corner kicks and were called offside five times, while the Tigers had one corner and were offside twice.

Tom Halsall turned aside three Campbellsville shots and Lee also recorded one team save. Max Malachiyev rejected two of the three shots he faced.
