Complete Regular Season Away Schedule

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 23-ranked Lady Flames completed a sweep of a Gulf South Conference (GSC) road trip with a 3-0 defeat of The University of Montevallo Sunday afternoon at Varsity Field. Lee began the trip with a 2-0 win at AUM Friday evening.

The Lady Flames (10-4, 9-2 GSC) remain tied with Mississippi College in second place in the GSC, while North Alabama (9-2-1) holds a slight advantage in the conference points tally.

"It was an important win for us today," said Lee head coach Chris Hennessey. "Montevallo are a well-organized team and I think we came in with the right mentality to battle. We scored some good goals and created some good other opportunities for ourselves. It was another solid performance at the back."

Riley Engels opened the scoring 20:34 into the first half. Kate Carney was credited with the assist. The Lady Flames would stretch their lead to 3-0 just before halftime after Carly Smoltz sent a cross into the box and Isabelle Berthoud tallied the first goal of her collegiate career.

Summer Lanter added an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute to supply the final margin. It was Lanter's team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The Lady Flames put 13 of their 21 shots on goals and held the Falcons to four total shots. Montevallo (7-5-1, 5-5-1 GSC) took six corner kicks to Lee's five.

Taylor Green recorded her third shutout of the year to improve her record to 4-0. Sydney Young was charged with the loss after giving up two goals with six saves in the opening 45 minutes. Judith Perez-Bayon played the second half and saved three of the four shots she faced.

"We have another tough weekend coming up, so it's important we recover quickly and get ready for Friday," added Hennessey.

The Lady Flames play their final three matches of the regular season at home beginning this Friday at 7 p.m. EDT against Alabama Huntsville. The match is the annual Kickin' It for Kids with Cancer benefit game.
