FLORENCE, Ala. – The Lee University women's tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped Sunday with an 8-1 loss at North Alabama. The Lady Flames dropped to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the Gulf South Conference, while UNA improved to 7-4, 6-2 GSC.
"This is all part of the learning curve for us," said Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "UNA are a solid team and they showed why today. We are getting better with every match."
The Lions won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles by the same 8-5 margins and finished the doubles sweep with an 8-4 score at No. 2 doubles.
The hosts added to their lead and clinched the team victory by claiming the first four singles matchups. Francesca Tondi ended UNA's shutout bid with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. The Lions posted a win at No. 2 singles to supply the final margin.
The Lady Flames look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday against Cumberland University. The non-conference match is set for a 3 p.m. EDT start.
