Lady Flames Shut Out Christian Brothers 6-0



MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lee University women's tennis team completed an unbeaten Gulf South Conference road trip with a 6-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Christian Brothers University. The 44th-ranked Lady Flames won its fourth match of the week to improve to 12-3 overall and 3-2 within the conference. The Lady Bucs dropped to 5-10 (1-5 GSC).

"I'm pleased for our ladies," said Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "It's been a busy week and they've handled themselves well."

The match was played on the indoor courts of Windyke Country Club with the teams starting with singles competition.

Carley Sickinger opened the team scoring with matching 6-2 set scores against Eliza Wood at No. 3 singles. Asia Grzegrzolka lost just one game to Judit Aubets Macia at No. 1 singles. Lisa Kirr pushed the Lee lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Laura Brazuelo in the second position.

Lauren Trammell clinched the team win with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Shay Pritchard. Sierra Donaldson was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at the sixth spot against Tia Pearson. Micaela Belen Maiz tallied the same score against Nellina Wooten at No. 3 singles to complete the sweep.

The doubles matches were not played since they would not factor into the overall team decision.

The Lady Flames return to action on Saturday, March 30, against The University of Alabama in Huntsville. The GSC contest is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start at the DeVos Tennis Center.
