Lady Flames Shut Out Lees-McRae 7-0



The Lee University women's tennis team remained unbeaten with a 7-0 win against Lees-McRae College Sunday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center.

The Lady Flames (2-0) swept both the doubles and singles competition to record the win. Lees-McRae dropped to 2-3 on the season.

Lisa Kirr and Matina Ujdur raced to a 6-0 win over Sanday Allen and Nurshameem Shamsuddin. Micaela Belen Maiz and Carley Sickinger were 6-1 winners against Zeynep Cakirer and Mei Hiramatsu. Lauren Trammell and Sierra Donaldson completed doubles action by defeating Jaden Acklin and Emily Harrison 6-3.

Sickinger beat Allen with straight-set scores of 6-1 and 6-1. Kirr pulled Lee to within one point of securing the team victory by beating Shamsuddin 6-3 and 6-1. Ujdur held off Cakirer 6-3, 6-4 to post Lee's fourth point and clinch the win.

Trammell shut out Acklin at No. 5 singles and Donaldson lost just two games in each set of her two-set win over Hiramatsu at the fourth position. Dana Moreno earned her first collegiate win with 6-4 and 6-2 scores against Harrison.

The Lady Flames return to action on Sunday, February 16, when Lee opens Gulf South Conference competition against Christian Brothers University. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the DeVos Tennis center.
