Flames Blank Quincy for Third Straight Win

Orlando, Fla. – The Lee men's tennis team won its third straight match at the USTA National Campus with a 7-0 blanking of Quincy on Tuesday night.

The Flames started fast and secured the doubles point as the Hawks had no answer. Lee droped just five games combined in the three doubles matches. Jesus Garica and Bruno Mederios won 6-1, Nico Ramirez and Antonio Pons captured a 6-2 win while Christian Pons and Drew Johnson were 6-2 winners.

"Our start in doubles was very good tonight. I think we are starting to find our identity as a team," said a pleased coach Patric Hynes.

Jesus Garcia rolled at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Nico Ramirez followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win while Bruno Mederios claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win. Christian Pons battled to a 6-2, 7-6 win and Antonio Pons won 6-2, 6-3. Denis Muratovic battled to a three-set win, 7-5, 1-6, 10. Drew Johnson finished things off with an 8-6 superset victory.

"Denis has really given us a boost with his energy on court. Very pleased with him," added Hynes. "We've got a couple of days off now; we can use it to relax a bit and get ready for another tough battle on Friday."

Lee improves to 6-5 on the year and will wrap up the Spring Break week with a Friday afternoon match against Kenyon College at 3 p.m.
