RESULTS
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Lee University women's cross country team placed sixth out of 29 teams Friday morning at the FSU XC Open. The 6K race was hosted by Florida State University at Apalachee Regional Park.
The top five teams were NCAA Division I schools. BYU, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division I, placed four runners in the top six on the way to the team win with 24 points. No. 19 Florida State was second with 51 points and Furman, receiving votes, placed third (83). Southern Utah (105) and No. 3 Stanford (171) rounded out the top five. The Lady Flames, ranked No. 6 in DII, were one point behind Stanford for sixth place (172).
Celine Ritter finished 11
th out of 290 finishers to lead Lee. Ritter completed stopped the clock at 21:16.2. Whittni Orton of BYU was the individual winner with a finishing time of 20:16.8.
Toni Moore finished the race in 40
th with a time of 22:16.6, while Grace Adams (22:32.0) crossed in 51
st. Danielle Horter placed 53
rd (22:35.3) and Olivia McLain rounded out the Lee scoring at 59
th (22:46.8).
Lily Hare (23:16.6) finished 86
th and Aria Hawkins (23:24.6) was 93
rd to position themselves as Lee's spacers. Phoebe Moran completed the race at 23:26.4 for 94
th.
Ashlyn Iliff placed 114
th (23:45.0) and Elizabeth Heckman was 137
th (24:04.4). Elizabeth Beckham stopped the clock at 24:44.3 (174
th) and Kaitlyn Sealer was the final Lee runner at 227
th (26:06.5).
The Lady Flames return to competition on October 9 at the UAH Chargers Cross Country Invite at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
