The Lee University Athletic Department's mission is to develop and graduate champions in the classroom, in their sport, in their faith and in the community. The department helped fulfill that mission by inducting 38 student athletes into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society, which recognizes athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition.
Student-athletes were inducted in April 27 in a special ceremony and must have achieved the rank of junior or senior, attended Lee University for two or more semesters, achieved a 3.4 cumulative GPA or higher and earned a varsity letter. The 2022 members are the fifth class in the prestigious Lee honor society, joining 157 other student-athletes who were inducted as juniors over the last four years.
"Congratulations to the 2022 induction class! We are extremely proud of these student-athletes; this is a tremendous achievement," said Lee Athletics Administrator, Silvia Sartori. "It is incredibly difficult to excel both in the classroom and on the field or court, but these exceptional student-athletes have done so."
Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The honor society was founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis. His goal was to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime.
