VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Lee University Women's Tennis team fell to No. 27 Valdosta State 4-2 Sunday at the VSU Tennis Complex. The Lady Flames end the regular season at 9-6 overall and 4-6 in the GSC.

Valdosta State (10-11, 8-2 GSC) claimed four of the five completed singles matches. Senior Hayden Smith lost to VSU's Denisa Hanakova 6-3, 6-2. Elizaveta Gnilozubova was defeated 6-2 in both sets against Kayla Greco. Olivia Pezo beat Maria Fernanda Duarte 6-3 and 6-1. Kanna Kobayakawa lost both sets to Aneta Poborilova by 6-2 scores.

No. 54 Ashleigh Simes won at No. 1 singles against Denisa Hanakova 6-3 and 6-2 for Lee's lone singles point.

Lee won two out of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The 28^th-ranked team of Fernanda Duarte and Simes beat No. 35 Hanakova and Viktoriia Federova 6-2. Gnilozubova and Mirjana outlasted Evelyn Altmaier and Natalie Rainke 7-5. VSU posted a win at No. 2 doubles with Greco and Poborilova beating Kobayakawa and Maria Penalver Aguilo 7-5.

The Lady Flames will enter the GSC Championship as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 Valdosta State in the Quarterfinal Round on April 27 at either Lagoon Park or O'Connor Tennis Center in Montgomery, Alabama. Match time is yet to be announced.
