CLEVELAND, Tenn.- The Lee University men's Tennis Team fell to Auburn the University at Montgomery Warhawks 5-2 to end their impressive six game streak on Friday afternoon. The Warhawks were ranked fourth in the Gulf South Conference standings, one spot ahead of the Flames.
Warhawks' did really well in singles with four wins over Lee. Joao Guariente defeated Lee's Francisco Faria in singles 7-6. Adrian Contreras (AUM)defeated. Jordi Dasi 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Warhawks Titouan Le Maout defeated Quinn Groenendijk 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Lee got two win in doubles. Filipe Krohn knocked off Agustin Marquez 6-1, 6-1 and 2. Wihan van der Merwe defeated Giuseppe Bonaiuti 6-0, 7-5
In doubles, Lee's Francisco Faria and Filipe Krohn shutout Warhawks Alex Verdasco and Agustin Marquez with a score of 6-0 in number 1 doubles. However, AUM's Joao Guariente and Giuseppe Bonaiuti defeated the Groenendijk brothers, Quinn and Mike 6-3. The Warhawks' 34th ranked doubles team, Adrian Contreras and Titouan Le Maout also defeated Lee's Jordi Dasi and Wihan van der Merwe 6-3.
The Flames are set to play University of Montevallo at home on Sunday, April 7th. Lee will celebrate senior day at 11:15 AM.
