CLEVELAND, Tenn. – On a chilly final Friday in October, the Lee University men's soccer team celebrated a senior night victory over Union University. Three different Flames scored their first goals of the season in the 3-1 win over the Bulldogs. The win gives Lee a 5-7-3 record overall and 2-5-3 in GSC play.
The Flames got on the board early on a set piece. Marius Brandtun found Samuel Clark who headed it home for the 1-0 lead just 6:57 into the contest. Lee had a few more chances late in the first half but could not convert.
Lee continued the pressure in the second half. Shots from Nicolas Napoli, Zane Marsh and Ethan Stewart either just missed or forced saves from Patrick Schott, the UU goalkeeper. Finally, in the 54
th minute Lee doubled the lead. Carlos Fernandes led a counterattack and found Stewart who slotted it home.
The final goal for Lee came in the 61
st minute. Napoli crossed it to Marsh who took one step and blasted it into the top right corner of the net. UU got one goal back in the 80
th minute on a shot from Rich Rokodi-Phelps.
Lee out shot Union 14-8 in the contest while both teams have 19 fouls.
Lee will play the final game of the regular season on Sunday at 3:30 pm as they will host Christian Brothers University.

"Each one of our seniors have brought something different of value to the team and a unique skill set and fun to celebrate them. There are some groups that come through that you really have a heart for, and this was a group like that. Tonight's win wasn't just for the three points which we needed, but for the seniors as well."
