CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Homecoming is always special at Lee University and athletics play a significant role with several events scheduled. Alumni, students, and visitors will have their choice of viewing volleyball, women and men's basketball, baseball, women's soccer playoff action or all five sports.
It all begins on Thursday and there will be plenty on the line for the Lee volleyball team when it hosts Trevecca Nazarene University (6 p.m.) inside Walker Arena. The Lady Flames have four regular-season home games remaining and will be trying to hold onto a third or fourth place finish in the final Gulf South Conference standings.
Coach Christa Fabre's squad will be back in action on Friday (6 p.m.) when the Auburn University Montgomery visits. Baseball will have former Flames featured in the annual Home Run Derby and Alumni Game (4-5 p.m.) The Derby and Alumni Game will be staged at Larry Carpenter Stadium. Softball will also have a home run derby and reception at 4:30 PM on Friday. Lacrosse will host an alumni game at 3 PM on Saturday.
The annual Homecoming basketball games quickly capture the spotlight beginning at noon on Saturday with a pair of exhibition games. The Lady Flames will be pitted against Maryville College at noon while the men will face a challenge from the NAIA's 18th-ranked Dalton State College team at 2 p.m. It will be the first-ever meeting between the Flames and neighboring Roadrunners.
The annual Hall of Fame Banquet will take place at 5:30 in the John D. Nichols Room of the Lee University Chapel. The 2025 Hall of Fame class will consist of Holly Hamilton-Smith (1999-2003) representing women's basketball and softball, Abby Bertram (2016-20) representing women's basketball, Matt Emery (2010-14) representing men's golf, Leah Fortune-Terry (2011-14) representing women's golf, and Jonathan Dukes, Meritorious Service, who has been servicing Lee baseball faithfully as the public address announcer for the past 35 years.
The full day of Lee athletics will feature the women's soccer team battling Mississippi College in the quarterfinal round of the GSC Championship at the Ray Conn Sports Complex. The second-seeded and 19th-ranked Lady Flames will be looking to advance to the semifinals which will be hosted by Huntsville (Alabama) Sports Commission.
