Flames Finish Fourth At Las Vegas Desert Classic

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Lee University men's golf team finished fourth out of 20 teams at the Las Vegas Desert Classic. The event was held on Monday and Tuesday at the Boulder Creek Golf Course.

The Flames saved their best for last with a 12-under par performance in the final round to finish 17-under par for the tournament. Lee tallied a final score of 847 (288-283-276).

Colorado Christian was the team winner with final score of 28-under par. Florida Southern (-20) claimed second place and Lincoln Memorial (-19) was third. The individual medalist was Baptiste Touchard of St. Mary's (Texas) who posted a final tally of 204 strokes (12-under).

Drew Zielinski was Lee's top finisher at 10-under. He had round scores of 70, 69 and 67 for a total of 206. George Cordall was 26th overall at 2-under with scores of 72, 71 and 71 (214).

Bennett McNabb and Mitchell Strickland tied for 30th with seven others at 1-under par (215). McNabb posted 73 strokes in the first round, 74 in the second and 68 in the final round. Strickland also improved each round, going 74, 71 and 70.

Luke Stock finished two over for 46th. He posted scores of 73, 72 and 73 for a total of 218.

The Flames are scheduled to be in action again next Monday and Tuesday in Valdosta, Georgia, for the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate. The Tournament will be contested at Kinderlou Forest Golf Course.
