JACKSON, Tenn. – Despite taking nine more shots and eight more shots on goal, the Lee University women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw with Union University on Saturday. Isabella Valetine scored the lone goal for Lee in the tie.
Valentine got on the board just 90 seconds into the contest. On a corner kick from Megan Davis, Valentine found the bottom left corner. Union tied the game just after halftime. Paige Blackburn found the ball after a couple of deflections and shot it over the head of Abby Whitcomb to tie the game.
Lee outshot UU 19-10 in the tie. Lee also had 10 shots on goal with just two for Union. Antia Lopez Rodriguez had nine saves for Union in goal.
Lee had 12 fouls to 11 for Union. Lee was also called for offside four times in the contest.
Lee will continue the road trip at Valdosta State University on Wednesday, October 7.
