MOBILE, Ala. – The 38
th-ranked Lady Flames ended a three-match skid with a 7-0 non-conference win at Spring Hill College Sunday afternoon. Lee improved its record to 5-3, while Spring Hill dropped to 6-6.
Rima Yoshida and Andrea Pascual Blanca beat Claire Bosman and Brooke Powers 6-1 to open doubles competition. Maria Fernanda Duarte and Aliyan Dwyer secured the doubles point for Lee with a 6-0 defeat of Danielle Day and Emma Koch. The third doubles match was left unfinished with Jasmine Ibegbulam and Nicolette Fuhr leading Italia Jones and Anna Hill 4-2.
Vitória Maximiliano was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles against Jones. Duarte shut out Day 6-0 and 6-0 at the fifth position to run Lee's lead to 3-0. Fuhr clinched the team win with a 6-0, 6-4 defeat of Hill.
Yoshida, ranked No. 41, beat Bosman by matching set scores of 6-1. No. 70 Dwyer took down Powers 6-1, 6-1 and 53
rd-ranked Pascual was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at the second position.
The Lady Flames return to action on Thursday against Lincoln Memorial University. The non-conference match is set for 2 p.m. at the DeVos Tennis Center.
