The Lee University track & field teams competed at two separate meets this past weekend. Several members of the team traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Raleigh Relays at Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on the campus of North Carolina State University, while the rest of the team was at Kennesaw State University's Don McGarey Invitational.
The Lady Flames collected two new NCAA Division II Provisional marks at the Raleigh Relays. The Lee women finished fourth out of 11 teams at the Don McGary Invitational.
Provisional Qualifying Performances:
Maria Mitchell completed the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:25.82 to beat the provisional time of 10:59.02. Her time is the top time reported among NCAA Division II athletes so far this season.
Aria Hawkins finished nearly 42 seconds ahead of the provisional qualifier with a time of 16:12.00 in the 5000-meter run. Her time is No. 2 at this point in the season.
The Flames collected two new NCAA Division II Provisional marks at the Raleigh Relays and one more at Don McGary Invitational, where the team placed third out of nine teams.
Provisional Qualifying Performances:
Stephen Clark crossed the finish line of the 3000-meter steeplechase at 8:52.54 to cut nearly five seconds off his previous qualifying time of 8:57.45. He finished ahead of the qualifying time of 9:10.72. That time is the fourth-best reported so far this season.
Pierre Chauveau posted a time of 14:12.26 in the 5000-meter run to finish 59th at the Raleigh Relays and beat the provisional mark of 14:12.85. His time is sixth among DII athletes.
Shaw Helfrich met the provisional mark of 4.87 meters in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.91 meters at the Don McGary Invitational. His mark is No. 15 in DII.
