GSC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
GSC HONOR ROLL
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Lee University athletic department led the way in the Gulf South Conference with 19 All-Academic Members for the spring sports. The Flames also had 152 on the GSC Honor Roll this semester. Baseball led the way with four members. Both track and field teams had three apiece. Women's golf had three while lacrosse had two members. Men's tennis also had two members while women's tennis and men's golf each had one.
All-Academic teams are voted on by the conference's Athletic Communications Directors. Athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, have spent at least one year on campus at the institution. The teams are comprised of athletes that achieved combination of both academic and athletic success this season.
Athletes must maintain a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive honor roll recognition.
Mississippi Christian University had the second most All-Academic members with 16 while the University of West Florida had 12. On the honor roll; men's tennis had seven, women's tennis had seven, and women's golf had eight. The softball team had 20 while baseball had 24. Women's lacrosse added 18 while men's track and field had 31. Women's track and field had 27 and men's golf had 11.
For baseball, Evan Bloomer, Luke Collier, Isaiah French, and Cody Turner were selected. Evan Bloomer has a 3.97 GPA in biological science. He was on an All-region team and was a second team starting pitcher. He was an CSC Academic All-District member. He has a 3.61 ERA on the season which is sixth best in the GSC. He has thrown the second most innings this year in the GSC at 99.2. He has the most wins in the GSC with nine. He has 84 strikeouts on the season which is fifth most and thrown the sixth fewest walks in the GSC with 18.
Luke Collier has a 3.9 GPA in engineering science. He was a second team All American in the ABCA. He was on the first team All-GSC shortstop and on three different all region teams. shortstop. He was an CSC Academic All-District member. He has the second best average in the GSC and is in the top three in slugging. He is tops in the GSC in runs (72), hits (89), RBI (70), and triples (7). As the everyday shortstop he is fielding is over .915 on the season. He has tied the all-time GSC career triples record.
Isaiah French is having another great season as a catcher. He was First Team All-GSC He was an CSC Academic All-District member. He is fourth in the GSC in RBI with 50 and in the top ten in slugging at .600. He has double digit home runs at 12 and is third best in the GSC. He is fifth in runs scored at 49 and fourth in RBI with 50. He has double digit steals as well with 14. He is fielding at .981 on the year and has thrown multiple base steals out.
Cody Turner has a 3.79 GPA in criminal justice. He was on the second team All-American in the D2CCA. He was on three all-region teams and was on the first team as the utility player. He was an CSC Academic All-District member. He has played first base, outfield, designated hitter, and has pitched. He is in the top seven in the GSC in slugging and ninth in batting average. He is third in the GSC in RBI with 55. He is hitting over .350 with 64 hits. He has over 40 runs scored and 12 home runs. As a pitcher for Lee he has double digit appearance and thrown over 37 innings. He has 31 strikeouts. has three wins, and a 3.82 era.
For men's track and field, Stephen Clark, Pierre Chauveau, and Luke Gaddis were named to the All-Academic team. Stephen Clark has a 3.65 GPA in accounting/finance. He won the national championship in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He was the region track athlete of the year. He won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the GSC Championships. He was second in the 1500 meter at the GSC. Championships. He was an indoor all-academic member
Pierre Chauveau has a 3.72 GPA in business analytics. He was an All-American in the 1500-meter race. He was the most outstanding performer at the GSC Championships. He won the 1500-meter, came in seventh in the 800-meter, and fifth in the 4x400 meter relay. He was an indoor all-academic member
Luke Gaddis has a 4.0 GPA in biology. He was an indoor all-academic member. At the GSC Championships he was ninth in the 1500 and fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
For women's track and field, Aria Hawkins, Brynn Depinet, and Liz Lannom were named. Aria Hawkins has a 3.96 GPA in Psychology. She earned a national championship in the 1500-meter race at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships. She was also an All-American in the 5000-meter race. She was the GSC Co-Commissioner Trophy winner this year. She was the Region track athlete of the year as well as the GSC Track athlete of the year. She was an indoor all-academic member
Liz Lannom has a 3.93 GPA in Journalism. She competed at the NCAA Championships in the 100-meter hurdle. She won the 100-meter hurdle at the GSC Championship. Lannom was also sixth in the 200-meter dash. She was an indoor all-academic member.
Brynn Depinet has a 3.5 GPA in biology. She competed at the NCAA Championships in the pole vault and won the GSC Championship. She was an indoor all-academic member.
Women's golf had Hannah Nall, Olivia Ireland, and Emilia Nordström selected. Hannah Nall has a 3.24 GPA in business administration. She is a WGCA All-American and the GSC golfer of the year for the second straight year. She was on the First Team All-GSC and she was an CSC Academic All-District member. She helped lead the Lady Flames to a GSC Championship and come in fifth in the NCAA South Regional.
Olivia Ireland has a 3.952 GPA in finance. She was on the First Team All-GSC and she was an CSC Academic All-District member. She helped lead the Lady Flames to a GSC Championship and come in fifth in the NCAA South Regional.
Emilia Nordström has a 4.0 GPA in Finance. She was on the First Team All-GSC and she was an CSC Academic All-District member. She helped lead the Lady Flames to a GSC Championship and come in fifth in the NCAA South Regional.
Men's golf had Drew Zielinksi on the team. Drew Zielinski has a 3.657 GPA in Health Science. He helped lead the Flames a semifinal finish at the NCAA Championships. He is a PING All-American, a First Team All-South Region, the GSC Golfer of the year, and the GSC Medalist this season. He competed on the PGA Tour after earning an exemption at the Golfweek-Fripp Island Tournament. He was al the GSC Commissioner Trophy winner as well this season.
Men's tennis had Filipe Krohn and Stefan Mos named to the team. Filipe Krohn has a 3.470 GPA in sports management. He helped lead the Flames to a NCAA South region birth. He also helped the Flames to a 14-3 record and led the Flames to their first time in the GSC Championship match. He is a ITA All-American and a First Team All-GSC member. He went 10-6 in #1 singles and 8-4 in #2 doubles.
Stefan Mos has a 4.0 GPA in computer science. He helped lead the Flames to a NCAA South region birth. He also helped the Flames to a 14-3 record and led the Flames to their first time in the GSC Championship match. He is a Second Team All-GSC member. We went 7-2 in #4 singles and 4-0 in #3 singles and 6-4 in #2 doubles. He is a CSC Academic All-District member.
The lone women's tennis player was Aliyah Dwyer. Aliyah Dwyer has a 4.0 in criminal justice. She helped lead the Lady Flames to a 9-6 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the GSC tournament. She went 8-6 as the #3 in singles and 8-5 in #2 doubles this year for Lee. She was an CSC Academic All-District member.
Lacrosse saw Savannah Weisman and Lily Tomczik selected. Savannah Weisman has a 3.76 GPA in early childhood education. She was a second team All-GSC. Weisman has had a fantastic season in goal. She was sixth in the nation in saves and leads the GSC in saves. She has the second best save percentage in the GSC. She is averaging ten saves a game. She also has the most ground balls in the GSC and is ninth in the country in ground balls per game. As a goalkeeper she has also caused five turnovers. She was an CSC Academic All-District member
Lily Tomczik has a 3.86 GPA in nursing. She was a second team All-GSC member. She is third in the GSC in ground balls and fourth in draw controls this season. She also caused the second most turnovers in the league this season. She was near 20 goals and double digit assists this season on 40+ shots. She shot 72% on the year. She was an CSC Academic All-District member.
