CLEVELAND, Tenn. – After giving up an early goal, the Lee University men's soccer team scored two times to hand Mississippi Christian University a 2-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon. Lee won their second straight GSC matchup and improved to 6-2-2 while MC fell to 2-4-2.
MC wasted no time in getting the scoring going as Benjamin Ellis scored in the 14
th minute. Lee had an answer when Thomas Stift scored on a rebound. Mattias Milla Munoz took a shot in the 36
th minute that was saved by MC's goalkeeper Elliot Duffy. It bounced off of his hands and Stift slotted it into the back of the net.
The game winner came from Andreas Apsris in the 56
th minute. He received a pass from Ole Backfisch and blasted it into the goal from about 25 yards out.
Lee outshot MC 12-9 in the contest while Charles Carriglitto made three saves in goal.
Lee committed 19 fouls and had three yellow cards in the win.
Lee will go on the road on Wednesday, October 30 for their final non-conference game against Catawba College.

"It felt and looked like a late season GSC game and that was good for us. We've been tested in a bunch of different ways this year and we've continued to rise to the challenge. To have a comeback win with limited players available makes me really proud. Sometimes you need proof. You believe you are tough and you are capable and then you have a game where you look back and see we did it."
