Torrey Striklin completed his fourth season withe the Lee men's soccer program and was promoted to the role of Associate Head Coach in July of 2022. Under the leadership of Potteiger and Stricklin the men's soccer program has posted a 34-16-9 mark, including the program's first GSC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament Appearance in 2019.
Stricklin joined the Lee staff after a successful playing career for Coach Potteiger at Gordon College from 2013-2016. Together, they amassed an impressive 61-18-3 mark with two trips to the NCAA D2 National Tournament.
After graduating in 2016 Stricklin served on staff at Brown University as an assistant coach in 2017 and was also a coach for a top club team in the New England Revolution Academy. Stricklin has his Master Coach Diploma, Mental Performance Training Diploma, and Performance Analysis Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches. He also completed his Master Coach Leader Certificate from the University of Delaware and is currently enrolled in UEFA C license from Scottish FA.
"I appreciate Derek, Coach Carpenter and Lee entrusting me with this position (Associate Head Coach). Lee is a top-class athletic department and I do not take this responsibility lightly," said Stricklin. "I want to specifically thank Derek for his mentorship and loyalty. I greatly value our relationship and look forward to continuing to push this program forward alongside him. It has been incredibly refreshing for our family to be back in a high-level environment where we are supported and surrounded by likeminded people. I'm looking forward to year four with Derek and the boys as we continue to pursue excellence on and off the field."
Said Coach Potteiger: “I am personally thrilled for Torrey to be named Associate Head Coach and it is certainly an appropriate representation of his impact on the program. I tell people without hesitation this program is blessed to essentially have 2 head coaches. If anyone takes a close look, our program has set high water marks in many areas each year that Torrey has been on board. That is not a coincidence as Torrey brings a breadth of talent and wisdom to our program that directly impacts the quality of players we have on our roster and the team that we build each year. We are of course hoping we can continue that trajectory again this year. It is a blessing to have Torrey and his growing family here in Cleveland and we are fortunate to have him for as long as he is here!”
Torrey and his wife Shelby, who also played soccer at Gordon, make their home in Cleveland with their three-year old son, Clayton and daughter, Mia
