Caleb Morgan has developed the Lee cross country and track and field teams into one of the nation’s best. He begins his 11th season as head coach of the cross-country programs and has led the track and field programs for the past 21 years.
The 2023-2024 school year was marked with more success for Morgan and his teams. The accomplishments included:
2023 - GSC Women’s XC Coach of the Year and South Region Women’s XC Coach of the Year (Women ninth at Nationals). The Lady Flames won their fourth straight NCAA XC Regional and seventh straight XC GSC title.
2023 – GSC Men’s XC Coach of the Year (Men 14th at Nationals). Flames won their third straight NCAA XC Regional and fifth overall and second straight XC GSC title and sixth overall.
2024 - GSC Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year (Women 16th at Nationals) Lady Flames won their fifth straight GSC indoor title
2024 - GSC Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year and South Region Coach of the Year (Women tied for 50th at Nationals) Lady Flames won their seventh straight GSC outdoor title
2024 – GSC Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year (Men 12th at Indoor Nationals) Flames won their third GSC Indoor title
2024 – GSC Men’s Outdoor Coach of the Year and South Region Coach of the Year (Men 9th at Outdoor Nationals) Flames won the second straight and fourth overall GSC outdoor title.
Before joining the coaching ranks, he enjoyed a tremendous career as a runner for the Flames. Morgan graduated from Lee in the spring of 2011. While at Lee he became the first male to qualify and compete in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Nationals. He also served as team captain all four years and was a three-time outdoor track national qualifier. He set the school record for the indoor mile, the outdoor 1500m, and the outdoor 800m. His other running achievements include 2012 Tennessee State Half-Marathon Champion (1:14.09) and the 2011 Georgia 10-miler State Champion (53:48).
Morgan is a native of Cleveland, Tenn., and attended Walker Valley High School. He is married to former Lee University runner Kristin Cretton and the couple has three children Luke, Elijah, and Blaise.
During the 2018-2019 school year, Lee became the first program in the GSC history to sweep men’s and women’s cross country and track titles (all four championships in the same year). In 2014 during Morgan's second year as head coach, he directed the men's cross country program to an unofficial GSC title and an NCCAA National Championship. Morgan led the men's teams to four consecutive Gulf South Conference Championships in its first four years of postseason eligibility (2015-2018), as well as back-to-back South Region Championships in 2016 and 2017. The men's cross-country team has advanced to nationals (top 32 teams) all five years of postseason eligibility with their highest national championship finish being 18th in 2016.
Men's Cross Country: The men's cross country team won four straight GSC titles from 2015-2018 and back-to-back South Region titles in 2016 and 2017. In 2022 and 2023, they won back-to-back GSC titles. The Flames recorded three straight South Region Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023. During postseason probationary period while transitioning to the NCAA the Flames won the 2014 NCCAA National Championship. Lee posted its highest finish of 14th place at the 2023 DII Nationals.
Coaching awards: 2014 NCCAA Coach the Year, GSC Coach of the Year 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2023. South Region Coach of the Year 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022, and 2023. GSC Coach of the Decade (2010-2019).
Men's Track & Field:
In 2016, 2019, 2023, and 2024 the men's track & field teams won the GSC Outdoor Track & Field Championship. In 2020 the Flames won the inaugural GSC Indoor Track & Field Championship and added three more title in 2022, 2023, and 2024.. Lee posted its highest finish of 9th place at the 2024 DII Outdoor Nationals.

Women's Cross Country:
Morgan has directed the Lee women's cross country team to seven consecutive Gulf South Conference Championships (2017-2023), as well as a South Region Championship in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The women's cross country team has advanced to nationals (top 32 teams) the last seven seasons (no championship held in 2020) with their highest national championship finish being eighth in 2021.

Women's Track & Field
Morgan has directed the Lee women's track & field teams to five consecutive outdoor track & field championships 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. The Lady Flames have won the first five GSC Indoor Track & Field Championships, winning in 2020, 202, 2022, 2023, and 2024
