Lee University Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Caleb Morgan has announced the addition of decorated athlete and former North Greenville Assistant, Lane Fletcher as the new track and field assistant coach.
Fletcher comes to the Flames after spending last season as the assistant track and field coach at North Greenville. Prior to his work with the Crusaders, Fletcher was the graduate assistant for GSC rival Mississippi College for three seasons. Fletcher will work with Lee's sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers.
Prior to his coaching career, Fletcher was a championship athlete at Shorter University where he claimed the GSC title in the men's decathlon in 2018. He was also the runner up in the decathlon as well as men's pole vault for the Peach Belt Conference. Fletcher was also part of the Hawks 4x100 team which competed in the NCAA Division II championship.
"We had 25 applicants and interviewed eight people, through that process Lane was by far the most impressive," said Morgan. "He truly understands Lee University and what we want to accomplish as a program. Not only does he have a great track record of developing athletes, he has a desire to pour into people to help mold them into outstanding individuals.”
He earned his Track & Field as well as Strength and Conditioning certifications through the USTFCCCA.
Fletcher and his wife Ayana, who is a former Division II national champion in the 400-meter, have a son Walker, who is two years old.
