Fresh off the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) East Division championship, Lee Lady Flames sophomore Ana Coscorrosa has earned conference player of the week honors, the third award for a Lee softball player in 2012.
In six games, Coscorrosa hit .579, including several timely hits in crucial Lee contests. Against No.9 Shorter, Coscorrosa drove in what turned out to be the winning runs with a double, as Lee took game one of the doubleheader, 6-4. Her solo shot against 14th-ranked Brenau gave the Lee ladies a 1-0 win, and she capped off the week with a pair of triples and four RBI in Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of Truett-McConnell.
All totaled, the Maracaibo, Venezuela native collected 11 hits in 19 at bats, hitting safely in all six games. She hit a pair of doubles, a pair of triples, a home run and had seven runs batted in. For the year, Coscorrosa is now hitting .445 with eight long balls, 15 doubles, and 63 runs batted in.
