Lee women's golfer Madison Alexander has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Female Golfer of the Week after winning medalist honors at the BSC Southern Shootout in Birmingham, Ala.

Alexander fired rounds of 69 and 65 to finish with a total of 134 to claim the second individual title of her collegiate career. The senior directed the Lady Flames to a record-setting score of 276 in round 2 to secure the team victory by 11 strokes over The University of the Cumberlands.

"Madison was spectacular this week, what a great tournament she played," said Lee's excited coach John Maupin.  "You can see that the light bulb has gone off and she's playing with a lot of confidence."

The Johnson City native is the third women's golfer to win the national honor this season for the Lady Flames, joining past winners Caroline Moore and Bernadette Little.

The team victory also will enable Maupin's squad to defend their  NCCAA National Title from last season. The Lady Flames qualified for this year's championship which will be held Oct. 27-29 from Panama City, Fla.
