Sophomore point guard Stedmon Ford has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after leading the Flames to two Gulf South Conference (GSC) victories last week.

Ford scored a career-high 29 points as the Flames defeated Mississippi College, 92-85 on Thursday night. Ford made 5-of-8 3-point shots and also connected on 8-of-10 free throws in turning in the strongest effort of his two year career at Lee.

On Saturday Lee defeated Delta State, 70-58 to win its third straight contest and move to 14-12 on the year. With the issue still in doubt it was Ford once again who came up huge on the offense end as the sophomore nailed back-to-back 3-point buckets to spark the Flames' second half run. Ford scored 18 of his team-high 20 points in the final half. He made 4-of-5 shots from behind the arc and was 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. "Stedmon had a great second half," said head coach Tommy Brown after Saturday's victory. "He has had back-to-back outstanding shooting games."

The Chattanooga native is averaging 11.4 points per game and 3.5 assists per contest. Ford is shooting 45 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from beyond-the-arc.

Ford and the Flames wrap up regular season play with Hiwasse College on Thursday (8 p.m.) and rival Shorter University on Saturday (7 p.m.).
