Lee freshman Harold Smith has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the way for the men's track team at the Emory Invitational last weekend.

Smith claimed first place in the 800 meter with a time of 1:52.01, which ranks as the No. 1 time in the NCCAA. The Cleveland native and Bradley Central High School product is also making a splash in NCAA Division II. Smith ranks No. 6 in the country after the first three weekends of outdoor competition. 

"This was Harold's first collegiate win of what I am sure is many more to come," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "It was a team effort and our guys really worked together to hit a fast time."

The Flames finished the event  in 11
th  place with a total of 38 points. Emory University was the team champion with 96 points. Gulf South Conference (GSC) foe Shorter University placed 18th with 13 points.

Smith and the Lee track squad will be back in action on Saturday as they run in the Shorter Relays in Rome, Ga.
