BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - It has been an amazing season for Lee freshman guard Abby Bertram. For the fifth time this season, and the second straight week, Bertram has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week.
Bertram averaged 16.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 3.0 steals per game this past week against West Florida and Valdosta State.
The freshman was key in a thrilling showdown with Valdosta State, hitting a game-tying layup at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. She shot 58 per cent from the field and knocked down all four of her free throws.
Bertram and the third-seeded Lady Flames defeated Union on Tuesday in the GSC quarterfinals and will now get another crack at the No. 2 seed Valdosta State Blazers in the semifinals on Saturday at 3:15 in Birmingham, Ala.
