Senior goalkeeper Tom Halsall has been named the Gulf South Conference's Men's Soccer Defender of the Week.
The Southport, England native recorded two shutout victories and registered 11 saves as the Flames won the Lee Olive Garden Invitational with victories over Emmanuel College and Trevecca Nazerene University.Â
"Tom came up with some big saves for us early in the match tonight," said head coach Paul Furey after Saturday's victory. "He really sets the tone for our back line."
Halsall was just thankful to be back on the pitch after a leg injury cut his junior season short, "I'm just thankful I'm back out here and want to play my best for coach who put his trust in me."
Lee will prepare to finish up a grueling five-game stretch in eight days to start the year, as they host Dalton State College on Tuesday before heading down to Boca Raton, Fla. to battle Palm Beach Alantic and the defending NCAA Division II National Champions, Lynn University over the weekend.
