BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Lee University forward David Perez has been named the Gulf South Conference (GSC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Perez scored four goals in two Lee victories last week. The Dalton, Ga. native registered two goals, including the game winner, in the Flames 4-3 comeback victory in overtime at Montevallo on Wednesday.
Perez came right back with two more scores in Lee's 7-0 blanking of Oakland City University on Saturday evening. The junior leads the team with seven goals on the season to go along with three assists.
"DP (David Perez) continues to provide big goals for us," said Lee head coach Paul Furey.
The award marks the second time in three weeks that Perez has captured the weekly conference honor. He was named the GSC Player of the Week on Sept. 7, after recording two goals and two assists in a pair of games to open up the season.
Perez and the Flames are currently 5-2 on the season and will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule on Thursday, as they welcome Bryan College to town at 7 p.m.
