Seth Eagleson has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after leading the Lee men's cross country team to a second place finish at the NCAA South Regionals on Saturday from Saint Leo, Fla.
Two weeks after becoming Lee University's first Gulf South Conference champion, the Flames added one more first following the race as they qualified to run in the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship on Nov. 21 in Joplin, Mo.
Eagleson, a sophomore from New Palenstine, Ind., led Lee with a time of 32:74.72 in the 10k race and finished in fourth place overall. Eagleson and the rest of the Flames had to battle temperatures that reached close to 90 degrees during the race.
"This was a total team effort," said head coach Caleb Morgan after the race. "I can't say enough about this group and their ability to show up on race day and compete at their highest level."
