Freshman slugger Halle Davis has been named the Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week after a monster weekend at the plate for the Lee softball team.
Davis, a local product from Walker Valley High School, started things off on Thursday with a home run, a triple and five RBI as the Lady Flames fired past Montevallo, 18-7.
Davis continued to roll down at the Gulf Shores Invitational, which began last Friday. Lee played five games in three days and finished the event at 3-2. Davis was 6 of 18 with four home runs, one double and eight RBI.
The left fielder has hit five home runs in just eight collegiate games and capped off the Invitational on Sunday with a pair of home runs as Lee swung past Tuskegee, 14-5.
Davis and the Lady Flames will look to keep the bats hot as they begin conference play on Saturday against West Florida. The two clubs will play a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. before wrapping up the series on Sunday with a single game at 2 p.m.
