Lee University’s Erin Walsh was named the GSC Women's Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, for games played Feb. 8-14.
Walsh joined teammate Haris Price (GSC Freshman of the Week) in winning the awards making Lee the first GSC team to sweep the weekly honors this season.
Walsh (Knoxville, Tenn.) earns her first GSC Player of the Week honor. The native of Knoxville, Tenn. was the only nominee this week to produce consecutive 20-point games, averaged 26.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 38.5 minutes per game in a pair of losses.
Walsh began the week with a 28-point night against West Alabama on Thursday. She added three rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block. She shot 40 percent from the floor.
On Saturday, she added 25 points, six assists, two rebounds, a block and a steal against West Georgia.
Earlier in the week, Walsh was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for maintaining a 4.00 GPA as a nursing major.
She is third in the GSC in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game, and fifth in field goal percentage (41.9), including 40.1 percent from 3-point range. Her 67 3s made rank second in the GSC.
Lee (16-8, 13-6 GSC) is now tied for fourth place in the GSC and is one game out of second. The Lady Flames will travel to Mississippi College and Delta State this week.
