Men's tennis freshman Karl Hulten has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week.
The native of Malmo, Sweden delivered victories at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles against Shorter as the Flames dropped a close contest, 5-4 to the Hawks. Hulten defeated Patrick Sanders, 6-4, 6-2 and teamed with Charles Jabaley at No. 3 doubles to top Sanders and Arthur Amat, 8-4.
The Flames traveled down to Orlando, Fla. this past week to play three matches during Spring Break. Hulten answered the bell again posting a win at No. 4 singles defeating Marco Franco of Monmouth College, 6-3, 6-2 on Monday. Hulten again teamed with Jabaley to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-2 over Dylan Wong and Ronnie Griffin. The Flames won 8-1 over Monmouth.
Later in the day Lee would take on the University of the Sciences. Once again Hulten was victorious in both singles and doubles competition as the Flames blanked the Devils, 9-0. Hulten defeated Tajay McLeod 6-2, 7-6 (7-0) and won doubles with Jabaley, 8-2 over McLeod and Chandat Phan.Â
The Flames are currently 8-5 on the year after having won just two matches the previous year.
